Why see The Lubbock Chorale - Handel's Messiah Singalong?
A Holiday Tradition
This December, the Lubbock Chorale brings Handel's sensational oratorio to the Buddy Holly Hall, in a special holiday concert in which the audience is invited to join in to bring Messiah to life! The rousing piece with its powerful hallelujah chorus is one of the most iconic works of classical music and a must-see in this fantastic setting.
The piece was first performed in 1742 in Dublin and has since become a firm favorite among classical music lovers. Chronicling the life of Jesus Christ, the piece is an oratorio, which is a musical work similar to an opera but performed utilizing the vocals of both soloists as well as a choir, and often without the same narrative structure as an opera.
